UNDERGRADUATE COURSES
SCED 393 and SCED 393L (Science in the Elementary School and Laboratory, 3 hours)
This course focuses on the development of science teaching competencies needed to become a successful K-6 teacher. The course content is designed to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and dispositions to implement inquiry-based, developmentally appropriate science lessons in the future K-6 classroom. Whenever possible, course concepts are applied in actual teaching situations, including school placements.
SCED 396L (The Teaching of Science in the Junior High/Middle School, 3 hours)
This course is designed to present those techniques of science instruction and instructional materials most applicable to the teaching of science in middle school. Students take this course in conjunction with Curriculum, Instruction, and Media Technology 301 and 302 before student teaching.
SCED 398L (The Teaching of Science in High School, 3 hours)
This course is designed to present those techniques of science instruction and instructional materials most applicable to the teaching of science in high school. Students take this course in collaboration with Curriculum, Instruction, and Media Technology 400 and 400L before student teaching.
